Inversions: A Lack of Consciousness is Directly Correlated to What we Refer to as "Climate Change"
Signal 068. Crisis is the framework we are using to create media. The Earth is doing what every living system does when its small renewals are blocked. She is reading herself back to us.
You don’t necessarily experience the moment when you lose consciousness—normally around 8-14 years old—or when you gain it back (normally a mid-life crisis or disease, but when you arrive), you feel like you have come back from being in a long sleep, and then after a little while, maybe a year, Boom, you are AWAKE. I am still not sure what the middle part is all about, but it has certainly given me many tools I can now leverage.
What I know is that our entire connection to nature is absolutely essential. I have been working on the Climate movement, though not so quietly, since the late 80s, and my messaging has evolved over time, and also the industry I have served. I have worked in agriculture, finance, and health, and now I am very clear that we weren’t dealing with the root cause. Now that I have the correct framing.
What Do You Think is Going On?
You have probably been taught that climate change is the great existential threat of our time. The carbon levels are rising, the planet is warming, the fires and floods and storms are the consequence, and the solution is to lower the emissions, scale the renewables, restructure the policy, and somehow do it all in time. The IPCC delivers the reports. The governments commit and then quietly renege. The corporations buy carbon offsets that mostly don’t work. The activists protest. The wellness industry sells you a tote bag. And every year the numbers get worse, the storms get bigger, the insurance market withdraws from another region, and we are told to do more of what has not been working.
The data underneath the climate-emergency story is overwhelming. Atmospheric CO2 has passed 420 parts per million, up from 280 pre-industrial. The last decade was the hottest on record. Roughly one million species are at risk of extinction, with the current rate of loss running at tens to hundreds of times the natural background rate. Insurance companies have withdrawn from California, Florida, and Louisiana because the actuarial system can no longer pretend the math holds. The IPCC reports we have a narrow window. Carbon offset markets exposed as roughly ninety-four percent worthless in major investigations. Climate spending exceeds two trillion dollars a year globally and the curves keep moving in the wrong direction.
And this is only the current view.
A planetary crisis treated as an engineering problem to be solved with the right technology, the right policy, the right offset, the right behavior change. It is reading the symptom as the disease. It has been doing that since the 1960s when the first climate models started running. The Earth is now telling us what that has cost.
What’s Happening Beneath the Surface
Now turn the conversation.
The climate is not breaking. The climate is the most articulate language the Earth has, and she has been speaking continuously for four and a half billion years. The fires, the floods, the storms, the heat waves, the species migrations, the bleached coral, the melting glaciers are not malfunctions. They are completions. The Earth identifying what does not belong and removing it through the channels evolution gave her. We have been told to treat every one of these signals as a problem to engineer around.

Here is the inversion: The current view treats climate as a chemical and structural mechanism that we have broken and need to fix with better engineering. The inverted view treats climate as a four-layer event built from the Earth’s relationship with herself across deep time. The Earth is not malfunctioning. The Earth is speaking. The diagnosis is not in her atmosphere. The diagnosis is in the framework we are using to read what she is saying.
What’s Happening Overall
Climate is built from four things, and the climate models only measure one.
Microbial and ecological dialogue, the Earth’s living conversation across soil, ocean, forest, fungi, and atmosphere. The carbon, water, and nitrogen cycles are dialogue, not mechanism.
Atmospheric and elemental chemistry, the molecules of the air, the ocean, the soil. CO2, methane, nitrogen. This is the only layer the climate models actually measure.
Bioelectric and field regulation, the Earth’s electromagnetic field. The Schumann resonance at 7.83 Hz that every body on the planet was calibrated to before we covered the soil in concrete and saturated the atmosphere with anthropogenic EMF.
The integrating consciousness of the Earth as one being, the awareness that holds the whole planet as one continuous living system. When this fractures in us, we stop reading the Earth as alive, and the diagnosis becomes a chemistry problem rather than a relational one.
When any one of these collapses, climate collapses with it. And right now, all four are collapsing at once.

Look at all four layers collapsing at once. Soil microbial diversity has been hollowed out by industrial agriculture in the same decades that gut microbiome diversity has collapsed in humans. The ocean has lost roughly thirty percent of its phytoplankton since 1950. Forests have lost their relational coherence as monocultures replaced mixed canopies. Roughly fifty percent of insect biomass has been lost in the regions where it has been measured. The Earth’s bioelectric field is being saturated by anthropogenic frequencies the system was never tuned to. And underneath all of it, the integrating consciousness of being part of one living planet has been quietly dissolved in the population that runs the institutions making the decisions. The body and the Earth are running the same crisis at different scales. The mechanism is identical.
This is the through-line of the entire Inversions Series. The biofield is one. The polarization between humanity and nature, between the economy and the ecology, between our bodies and the planet that grew them, is the illusion the algorithm runs on. The unity is what the algorithm refuses to see. What you are reading in Climate, you are also reading in your own Immune system (the body in autoimmune collapse), in Finance (the economy past every carrying capacity nature has named), and in Food (the soil that grew us no longer remembered as alive). Same crisis. Different scale.

The framework that gave us the current view came in stages. The Carnot heat engine of 1824 taught us to read the world as thermodynamic machinery. Lyell’s uniformitarianism made geological time a linear progression. Newton, Descartes, and Bacon together built the mechanical universe that the modern scientific method now runs on. The Earth became a machine. The atmosphere became a chemistry problem. The cycles became mechanisms. The integrating consciousness was lost so completely that contemporary climate science cannot officially acknowledge it as a category.
