Pattern 015: The Migration Arc, Cycles as Rhythm
Deepen our exploration of cycles. Rhythm, the pattern of contraction: scatter ⇄ compress, combust ⇄ align, loosen ⇄ gather. It is the intelligence turning chaos into order, giving direction to energy.
This week has been about the Fall Turn; an exploration of cycles in my body, in the earth, and in our systems. Each week, I choose one theme and live with it fully. The pattern emerges as the culmination of research and story, and we close with a love letter. Now in my second week of this process, I'm finding my stride and falling in love with the learning. My hope is that you’ll find something here that helps you learn and grow, too.

For me, fall is not just a season. It is a reset, a funnel where all the heat and scatter of summer compress into one stream. It feels like being pushed through the narrow neck of an hourglass and born into rhythm again. The paradox is that contraction feels like relief.
Visually, the Fall Turn is best captured in the arc of migration. Birds flying thousands of miles in V-formation embody the logic of rhythm: individual effort amplified by collective alignment. Leadership is rotated, drag is reduced, breath is shared. The arc itself holds continuity.
I’ve watched the green soften and fade, shifting through pale tones into yellow, orange, and red. In its quiet surrender, the leaf begins returning its vibrancy to the forest, recycling itself back into the soil.
